He did his MBBS from Madras Medical College based in Chennai, India
He undertook multiple training in orthopedic surgery in the UK.
After completing his bachelor’s degree, he went for higher training in Cardiff and attained his fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons, UK.
Thereafter, he went to take training in spinal surgery and spent 18 months at the spine unit in Cardiff.
After this, he did a spinal surgery fellowship at the Royal Perth Hospital in Australia and then another one at the Nottingham Spinal Unit, UK.
He is a also fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK.
Besides clinical work, he is currently an adjunct assistant professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore.
Dr Kumar has several publications and international presentations on spinal surgery.
He also received the KTPH Clinical Service Champion Award for two consecutive years.
