Extensive training and expertise that sets Dr Lim Yeong Phang apart
Dr Lim Yeong Phang studied at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
He did a BA(Hons) from the UK in medical sciences in 1989.
He completed his MB BChir(Camb) in 1992 from the UK.
After returning to Singapore from the UK, he served as a Medical Officer in the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
In the year 1998, he decided to pursue surgery and trained at Edinburgh as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCS).
He later earned a diploma from Glasgow as a FRCS.
In the year 1998, he also joined the Singapore General Hospital under the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Later in the year 2005, he was awarded a Higher Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) fellowship to the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA.
2006 was the year when he was appointed as a consultant for the National Health Center (NHC). He was subsequently promoted to senior consultant there.
He also served as the visiting consultant at the KK Women and Children’s Hospital.
He has also worked in China for three months as he was the recipient of the Singhealth Talent Development Scheme in 2007. He worked at Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital in Wuhan.
He has been appointed as the adjunct assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He has taught there since 2009.
He also gives lectures at the Nanyang Polytechnic for the Advanced Diploma Nursing Course.
Currently, he serves as the cardiothoracic surgeon at the Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital located in Singapore.

Dr Lim Yeong Phang Cardiothoracic Surgeon is a very skilled and experienced surgeon with an experience of more than 20 years.
In 2000, he was part of a team of surgeons who performed one of the earliest lung transplant surgery in Singapore.
In 2008, he along with his colleagues got a grant from the Ministry of Health, Singapore to start the National Cardiovascular Homograft Bank at the National Heart Center (NHC).
In 2011, the National Cardiovascular Homograft Bank was the first Tissue Bank to get the American Association of Tissue Bank (AATB) accreditation which was not in America.
In the year 2011, he was part of a team of surgeons who performed the first combined heart and liver transplant surgery in Singapore.
He was appointed as the Director of the Cardiac Operating Theatre at the National Heart Center (NHC) in 2012.
He has also served as the Chairman of the NHC Healthy Lifestyle Committee.
He has a keen interest in research and teaching. He often conducts campaigns to promote the use of Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).
He has also trained cardiologists and respiratory physicians.
He has performed many minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass procedures via the chest wall. He did this surgery without having to cut through any bones.
He has a membership in several organizations and associations like the Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of Asia.
He is a member of the Singapore Cardiac Society and Chapter of Cardiothoracic Surgeons.
He has also been a recipient of the Gold Service Quality Award presented to him by the National Heart Center (NHC) in 2010.
