Dr Roland Chong, a consultant gastroenterologist,
He graduated from the University of Singapore (NUS) in 1980 with an MBBS degree.
He later obtained a postgraduate degree in internal medicine in 1985 from the Royal College of Physicians in the UK, Ireland and NUS.
He was subsequently conferred fellowships by both the Irish and Edinburgh Colleges. He furthered his expertise in Edinburgh, focusing on GI/Liver Services.
While in SGH, he served as the director of the Endoscopy Centre and served on the graduate education committee, the standing advisory committee, the SGH Post Graduate Medical Institute and the credentialing committee.
His research interests while in SGH centred around hepatology.
He won the Inaugural Young Investigators Prize for the Best Paper ”The Relationship between Alcohol, lipids and Apolipoproteins” at the Biennial Scientific Association for the Study of the Liver, Jakarta 1990.
Dr Chong previously served as Director of the Endoscopy Centre at the Singapore General Hospital.
