Device closure for atrial septal defects (ASD) and ventricular septal defects (VSD) is a treatment procedure for the hole in the septum of the heart. The heart has separate parts that pump oxygenated and deoxygenated blood to the lungs and the body. These parts are separated by a septum in between. But in some cases, the septum has a hole in it which causes the blood to mix. A closure device is introduced in the hole in the septum to stop this mixing of blood. The device is added through a catheter into the septal hole.
