In the process of in vitro maturation of oocytes (IVM) oocytes are collected from a patient in an immature form, in a procedure similar to a standard in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle oocyte retrieval procedure. In some instances, only a short duration of ovarian stimulation is performed and the immature oocytes collected are matured in the laboratory.
