Types of hair transplants that can be carried out
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) - The surgeon will remove a 6 to 10-inch thin strip of tissue from the back or side of your scalp, which is the donor region. This strip will be divided into small grafts containing 2 to 4 follicles each. Then these grafts will be transplanted into the area with thinning hair. This method leaves a scar and the recovery time is usually more. The cost of this transplantation is less than FUE. Hair transplant cost in Tanzania using FUT varies between $1,500 and $3,000.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) - The surgeon will individually extract the follicles from the donor area and keep them in a hair-viable solution to transplant later. The surgeon will then make small slits in the area where the follicle has to be transplanted. The follicles are added to those slits. This is a minimally invasive surgery and the recovery time is less. This procedure is more expensive and can cost around $3,000 to $5,000.
